Living on the edge
I am sneaking a cup of hot tea into the lab, in defiance of our rabid compliance office. Yeah, go ahead and bust me, security team. It's a freaking weekend.
But yes, security guards do sweep through our lab on weekends. They're walking through for security reasons, not to catch us eating food, of course. It's actually comforting. When I worked at research universities, I don't remember seeing a security guard at any time. At one place I taught, security was actually frighteningly lax. There are advantages to working for a rich private research institute. However, we do have that rabid compliance office. . .
